Developed in collaboration with Adeneo Embedded, the Smart Badge Demonstrator is equipped with an Atmel ǀ SMART SAMA5D31 as the main processor, an Atmel ǀ SMART SAM G54 MCU as the sensor hub, a maXTouch MXT112S for touch features, as well as a SmartConnect WILC3000 module for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity. In addition to all that, the device embeds MEMS and sensor technology from our friends at Bosch Sensortec, as well as a memory multi-chip package from Micron combining 4GB of LPDDR2 and 4GB of eMMC.
This demonstrator — which can be worn around the neck like any other ordinary badge — exemplifies Atmel’s wide range of integrated product capabilities to meet the demands of the rapidly-growing wearable space. It can interact with other Android smartphones, and runs the KitKat operating system with a handful of applications already deployed: compass, watch, spirit level, slide show and battery gauge.
